How to Clean Felt Pool tables

It is important to regularly clean your pool table in order to keep it looking new. This will help keep your table in top shape, and make it easier to play on. The best way is to use a brush to accomplish this.

You can find brushes designed specifically for cleaning felt pool tables at your local billiards supply store. These are gentle on the felt and will also remove dust and lint. If you don't have the budget for a professional brush, you could use a household brush. You should be careful not to use too many hard strokes as it can cause damage to the surface.

A steamer is an alternative option for cleaning the pool table surface. A steamer is useful in removing stains but can cause them to return if they are not removed. Natural stain removers can be applied to the felt using equal parts of water, white vinegar, or a mixture of both. Be sure to let the stain dry before you begin to play with it.

You should not damage your pool table felt. Pool table felt is weaker than regular felt. Most recreational players should clean their tables once per week. For serious players, it is recommended to clean your tables more often.

Once you've removed the stains, the next step is to clean the pockets. It is a good idea that you vacuum the pockets, rails and felt before you get started. To clean them you will need a damp, soft, and a vacuum crevice instrument.

Also, use a soft, non-linty cloth to remove the stain. Avoid using paper towels. These can trap fibers that could be left on your felt.

You can also buy a spray-on solution, which will do a much better job of removing stains. Some of these products are available at your local department store or online. They can be used as a substitute for the products sold in your billiards supply store.

After applying the cleaning solution to your felt, you can wipe it off with a damp, clean cloth. Do not rub the stains. Light strokes are best to ensure that the felt doesn’t get stretched.

The felt should be allowed to air dry on the pool table. Avoid drinking or smoking near the pool table. Also, you don't want to leave chalk marks on the surface.

After you have cleaned the table you can place the cues on the cue rack. These cues should not be kept in high temperatures or where they can become rotted by moisture.

Finally, clean the balls. This is a fairly common procedure, but it's important to be careful. Many home-based cleaning products are designed to remove tough grime, and can damage the felt. The felt can be protected by using a special cleaner.
