The Top 10 Players in the World Snooker Rankings

The world snooker rankings are the official ranking system for professional snooker players. They determine who qualifies automatically for World Snooker Tour tournaments. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association maintains the rankings. In addition to providing players with an idea of their ranking, they provide useful statistics on the sport.

Judd Trump

Judd Trump ranks in the top 10 for world snooker. He is known for his impressive breaks and his ability as a dominator of the sport. He has won 23 ranking title, including the global championship. He is still relatively young, at only 33 years old, and has the potential to stay at the top of the sport for at least another decade. His age and the grind of the tour could wear him down.

Mark Selby

The Englishman Mark Selby is one of the best players in the world. He is a former England Under-15 Champion and a recent World Snooker Championship Champ. He also has a strong background in pool. He won the 2006 WEPF eight ball pool championship. He also finished in the finals of the 2015 Chinese Pool World Championship. Selby was born in Leicester, England. Malcolm Thorne, brother to Willie Thorne's legendary snooker player, was Selby's coach.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan spent 280 weeks at top of world snooker rankings. After reaching the semifinals of Tour Championship, Ronnie O'Sullivan's most recent move saw him leapfrog Mark Selby in world ranked. The Scot reached the top of the world in May 2002 and has since won 31 ranking title. His achievements include six World Championship titles and five UK Championships.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams is one of the best snooker players in the world and currently holds the number 10 spot. The Welshman was first to break into the elite of the snooker world in 1995 when he won both the Benson & Hedges Masters as well as the Welsh Open. He won the latter title by making a respotted black in the final. He was the fourth player who won three ranking championships in 1998.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott was awarded two ranking titles. In 2010, he reached the final of China Open. Since then, however, his form was inconsistent. He has spoken out about his struggle with depression. The Australian is ranked low in world snooker rankings but has a strong home record.

Dott's professional career

Graeme Dott began his professional career in 1994 and has steadily climbed the ranks of world snooker. He made it to the top 16 in 2001, and he remained there until 2009. He reached quarter-finals in the Welsh Open 1996 and 1997. He was second in the 1999 Scottish Open, and third in the 2001 British Open. He was also the 2004 World Championship runner-up. He made his first competitive 147 break in 1999 at the British Open.

Dotts' ranking

Dott's place in the world ranking of snooker has changed over the years. He has been in the top 16 on six occasions. He was ranked second in 2007/8 season. Dott has been ranked lower since 2007.

Mark Williams' ranking

Mark Williams' ranking in world snooker has steadily risen over recent years. He has won numerous tournaments, including the Players Championship Grand Finals in 2000. Ronnie O'Sullivan was also defeated by him in the final. He has also been at the top of the world rankings several times. But his greatest ranking victory was in 2001, when Anthony Hamilton defeated him in the final of China Open.
