The World Snooker Rankings: Top 10 Players

The official rankings for professional snooker players are known as the world snooker ranks. These rankings are used to determine who automatically qualifies for World Snooker Tour events. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association maintains the rankings. They provide valuable statistics about the sport and give players an idea of their rank.

Judd Trump

Judd Trump is currently ranked among the top 10 in the world snooker rankings. He is known for his amazing breaks and his dominance of the sport. He has won 23 ranking title, including the global championship. He is only 33 and still very young. However, he has the potential of staying at the top of the sport at least for another decade. But, he may feel tired from the grind of touring and his age.

Mark Selby

The Englishman Mark Selby is one of the best players in the world. He is a former England under-15 champion and a recent World Snooker Championship Champion. He has a background playing pool. He was the winner of the 2006 WEPF eight-ball pool championship and was a finalist in the 2015 Chinese Pool World Championship. Selby is originally from Leicester, England. Malcolm Thorne was his coach, the brother of Willie Thorne.

Ronnie O'Sullivan

Ronnie O'Sullivan has been at the top for 280 consecutive weeks. After reaching the semi finals of the Tour Championship, O'Sullivan's latest move put him ahead of Mark Selby. The Scot first reached world number one in May 2002, and has since won 31 ranking titles. He is the winner of six World Championship titles along with five UK Championships.


Mark Williams

Mark Williams is a world-class snooker player and holds the number 10. The Welshman became a member of the elite in 1995 with his wins at the Welsh Open and Benson & Hedges Masters. He won the title of Benson & Hedges Masters by winning the Welsh Open and making a respotted white in the final. He was the fourth player who won three ranking championships in 1998.

Graeme Dott

Graeme Dott won two ranking titles, and reached the finals of the China Open 2010. But his form has been inconsistent. He has spoken out about his struggle with depression. The Australian ranks in the bottom half of world snooker rankings. However, he has a strong record at home.

Dott's professional career

Graeme Dott began his professional career in 1994 and has steadily climbed the ranks of world snooker. He reached the top sixteen in 2001, where he remained until 2009. He reached the quarter-finals of the Welsh Open in 1996 and the World Championship in 1997, finishing second in the 1999 Scottish Open and the 2001 British Open. He was also runner-up at the 2005 Malta Cup and the 2004 World Championship. 1999 saw his first competitive 147 break at the British Open.

Dott's ranking

Dott's place in the world ranking of snooker has changed over the years. He has been in the top 16 on six occasions. He was number 2 in the 2007/8 Season. Dott has been ranked lower since 2007.

Mark Williams' ranking

Mark Williams' ranking in world snooker has steadily risen over recent years. He has won many tournaments, including in the Players Championship Grand Final 2000. Ronnie O'Sullivan also lost the final. He has been ranked number one in the world on numerous occasions. His greatest ranking win came in 2001 when he beat Anthony Hamilton in the finals of the China Open.
